Japanese are like ants
Wow!
I really respect the Japanese people! They can fix this in 6 DAYS! They are the human version of ants.

I wander how long it will take Malaysians to fix, if the same disaster were to hit. Normal pot holes already take forever to fix. Roads to the interior of Sarawak took years to complete. And to this day, many village do not have proper road access.
Quote from dailymail.co.uk
The picture of gaping chasms in a Japanese highway demonstrated the power of the March 11 earthquake.
Now the astonishing speed of reconstruction is being used to highlight the nation’s ability to get back on its feet.
Work began on March 17 and six days later the cratered section of the Great Kanto Highway in Naka was as good as new. It was ready to re-open to traffic last night.

Monday Blues...
Yea! Its Monday! The State Assembly has been dissolved. This means State's Election is just round the corner!
Cant wait to exercise my rights. :D I have not vote in an election before, because I couldn't be bothered. But with recent developments in politics, I feel that I must exercise my rights as a Citizen .
The first salvo of political propaganda has been release by both government and opposition.
Propaganda or News? The Star
The government has a way of mixing the two together. Since there really isn't any form of free speech, or free press. All of the press are controlled.
It is only through Youtube and the Internet that we can access unfiltered news. But these can sometimes be misleading. Take the case of the recent comments by the First Lady regarding the tsunami in Japan. Many claim that the news was reported by CNN. Where as in actual fact it was reported by an internet user through CNN iReport. Which is a community thing. Although what she said sounded wrong, but it would be better if we can hear the whole speech rather than the short clip that was posted.
The Opposition's propaganda is cool and creative. Here is a clip of the propaganda :D The message that it portrays is true feelings of the people here. We all want a change!
Change maybe difficult. But it needs to happen. I was involve in an outreach program to the rural areas of Kuching some 13 years ago. We stayed in one of the village if rural Padawan, to help them and learn their way of living. From what I see, there is no infrastructure at all! The only access to the village was through a proposed "road construction" which took years and years to finish. According to the villagers, before any election, be it state or federal, there would be some activity for the project. They would tar a few kilometers of road, lay some foundation work, fill the muddy road with gravel and etc.
Once election is over, the project is put on-hold till the next election, which is 2~3 years later !(Our State and Federal Elections are separated) By then they would have to re-tar the same stretch of rod and pour more gravel on the previous gravel road which had become muddy road again.
There is also no access to electricity and clean water. The villagers depended on the small stream which runs through the village for clean water source. If it is contaminated, they had to carry water from a 'near by'(10 km away) school for the village use.
Their plight is even worst if they didn't vote the right political party. They will be denied any development in their village.
Lets us all Pray for a Change! and make it happen!

Project P90X...
Time to get in shape... :D
Been planning to get in shape for ages now...started with Gym.. we tried it out for 6 months... and decided that it was too costly :(
Then there was cycling. I was cycling all over Kuching back when I was in secondary school. I cycle daily from Sg Apong (Pending) all the way to St Joseph School in town early in the morning around 6am. And back home after school in the afternoon Sun!
Then in the evening I would do a cycle from my home in Sg. Apong again taking the Kuching bypass highway, pass Swinburne, Up Batu Lintang, pass General Hospital, pass my school, then Riverside, Ang Cheng Ho, Lok Thian, Up the hill to Toyota and CHMS No1 and back home....That was how I look like this :
Haiz... now I look like this:
But the wife say its too dangerous now. Even when I followed my ex-colleagues for night cycling to 7th Mile, or to Demak Laut.. some more its not daily, just a few nights a week :(
Anyway we finally agreed I do my workouts at home, in the comfort of my living room. After seeing the results from some online testimonial, I decided to download and tryout the P90X program. Its a program that does not need a lot of equipment. And I should be able to see results on the 90th day.
The program has 3 options, Classic, Double and Lean. I decided to try the Lean program for the 1st round. The program is a daily program for 6 days and 1 rest day, for 90 days straight, or roughly 13 weeks.
Anyway you can find out more about P90X from their website.
First day of the lean program, Core Synergistic, man this is HARD!!! My body ache all over....this program focus on the core mussels, the abs, arms and legs...
Hopefully I have the strength for tomorrow's program.

Blogging again...after 6 years..
Hey blog...
Turning 30 recently got me thinking... so I decided to start blog-ing again after 6 years. I think the old blog is still around....shykull.xanga.com
Many things has changed since then. So to summarize it all up. Graduated from Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus) in 2005. Bought my first house in 2005. I married Belcy in June 2006. Worked as a Process Engineer with 1Si and XFab in 2005, then as Yield Enhancement Engineer with XFab in 2008. Left XFab in 2009. Now I am lecturing for Swinburne's Diploma program since 2009. And I finally submitted my application for PhD in 2010. I will be doing RFID localization and tracking.
Oh not to forget...Belcy and I have a cute Baby Girl :D in November 2009.
Will post more details of the past 6 years later...
